A Year of Growth and Growing in Faith
Over the last year, we’ve seen exponential growth in Gospel-sharing opportunities through the successful launch of FCA Wrestling in Sioux Falls, an expansion of our FCA FlagFootball Leagues in Southeast, South Dakota and most recently a new place to call“home” for our West River Basketball programs based in Rapid City.
With the help of some exceptional head coaches and collegiate athletes from Augustana University and the University of Sioux Falls, FCA Wrestling has seen 87 different athletes participate in preseason clinics and in-season training opportunities. Including pre-season clinics and the launch of training sessions in October, the Gospel has already been shared with athletes over 30 times. Praise the Lord!
FCA Flag Football, which was already operating in the communities of Sioux Falls, Brandon, Brookings, and Luverne MN, officially expanded to Scotland SD for the Fall 2024 season. Led by the efforts of Southeast SD Area Director, Jared Wockenfuss, the Southeast FlagFootball League saw 67 athletes register in its debut season. With this expansion, South Dakota FCA saw a record high of over 1,800 total athletes participating in Flag Football programs in the Fall of 2024.
FCA’s Ted Standing-Soldier has been pouring into coaches and athletes through the sport of basketball in the Rapid City area for several years. Recently, gym space has become increasingly hard to come by for this program that now serves nearly 200 athletes year-round. This fall, FCA was blessed to partner with a generous donor who had a heart to better serve the youth sports community in that area. This has led to the creation of a four-court basketball facility that FCA Sports programs can now call home, which is an answer to many years of prayer! We are beyond thankful as God’s provision through the hearts of donors continues to open doors for expanded ministry opportunities.
In Matthew 9:37 Jesus says to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” With expanded FCA Sports environments, there was a realization that more staff was needed to accomplish God’s ultimate vision. This has led to three new FCA Sports staff hires in 2024, including: Alison Haas, FCA Sports Administrative Assistant, Casey Frandsen and Kwe Falconer, West River FCA Basketball Representatives.
We are incredibly thankful for what God has done in 2024, and none of it would have been possible without the generous support of our donors and partners over the past year. The work is still just beginning, though, and the mission is far from accomplished. We couldn’t be more excited for what God has in store for His Kingdom through FCA Sports in 2025!
