Complete Volunteer Background Check

ATHLETE PLAYBOOKS

The Athlete Playbook is a weekly devotional designed to help athletes grow in their faith while participating in FCA Flag Football. Each week includes a Bible verse, a short devotional, and a challenge to encourage athletes both on and off the field.

As part of the weekly challenge, athletes are encouraged (but not required) to:

  • Memorize the weekly Bible verse.
  • Recite the verse to their coach.
  • Write the verse on a piece of paper with their name.
  • Bring it to their game to be entered into that week's prize drawing.

Participation is completely optional, but we strongly encourage every athlete to take part. It's a fun way to hide God's Word in their hearts while having the opportunity to win weekly prizes.

Each athlete will receive a Playbook prior to the season starting.

  • How are teams chosen? Can my child play with friends?

    Developmental League (K–2):

Teams are created by FCA league directors to promote balanced competition and provide the best experience for all athletes. Because of this, we are unable to accommodate teammate or coach requests.

    Competitive League (3rd–6th):

Teams are formed independently by coaches and parents prior to the season.

  • What if I missed registration?

Registration remains open until the published registration deadline or until a division reaches capacity; whichever comes first. Once a division is full, additional registrations will be placed on the waitlist.

If space is available, you may join the waitlist for your child's division. Athletes on the waitlist are added only if roster space becomes available. Families will be notified by email if a spot opens and will receive instructions to complete registration and payment.

Competitive League Teams: Coaches are responsible for ensuring all players on their submitted roster are registered by the registration deadline. Players who are not registered by the deadline will not be guaranteed a spot on that team. Any unfilled roster spots may be filled by FCA from the waitlist or with other registered athletes as needed to complete teams.

If you have questions about registration or the waitlist, please contact ahaas@fca.org

  • Do you offer scholarships?

Yes, for scholarship information, please email ahaas@fca.org

  • Can coaches request players?

    Competitive League (3rd–6th):

Head coaches may submit a roster request using the Roster Request Form by July 10. Roster requests received after this date will not be accepted.

Please note: A coach's roster request does not register a player for the league. It is the responsibility of both the parent and the coach to communicate and ensure the athlete is included on the coach's roster request and completes their own registration by the deadline.

All athletes must be registered by July 10. Players who are not registered by the deadline will not be considered for that coach's team. Any unfilled roster spots may be filled by FCA from the waitlist or with other registered athletes as needed.

While every effort is made to honor roster requests, placement on a requested team is not guaranteed.

    Developmental League (K–2 & 3-6):

Players are assigned to balanced teams by FCA league directors. Coaches may request to coach with up to two other coaches (maximum of three coaches per team).

If more than three parents request to coach together, FCA will divide the group among multiple teams. This policy helps ensure every team has volunteer coaches and provides a positive experience for all athletes. Requests that exceed the three-coach limit will not be honored.

  • When will rosters be finalized?

Rosters are typically finalized in late July or early August.

Rosters will be sent only to head coaches. Coaches are responsible for contacting the families on their roster with team information, practice details, and other season updates.

Please note: The LeagueApps app may display preliminary rosters before they are finalized. These rosters are subject to change as registrations, waitlists, and coach assignments are finalized. We strongly recommend not telling your child who their coach or teammates are until you have received confirmation from FCA or your coach that the roster is final.

Coaches are expected to contact their players between August 17–21. If you have not heard from your coach by August 22, please check your spam or junk folder for an email titled "2026 Fall Flag Football Roster." If you still have not received any communication, please contact ahaas@fca.org

  • Is there a refund policy?

Refunds are granted only for documented medical reasons that prevent an athlete from participating.

Before registering, please carefully review the league schedule and your family's availability. Refunds will not be issued for scheduling conflicts, changes in personal plans, or withdrawal from the league after registration.

For added peace of mind, registration insurance is available as an optional purchase during registration. Families who choose to purchase registration insurance should refer to the insurance provider's terms and conditions for coverage details and the claims process.

Because league planning—including team formation, coach assignments, field reservations, equipment purchases, and scheduling—begins immediately after registration, we are unable to offer refunds for reasons other than approved medical exemptions.

If you have questions about our refund policy, please contact ahaas@fca.org before registering

  • What is the difference between Competitive & Developmental Leagues?

    Developmental League (K–6)

The Developmental League is designed for athletes of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced players looking to continue developing their game. The focus is on learning football fundamentals, improving skills, building confidence, and having fun in a positive, Christ-centered environment.

Players are assigned to balanced teams by FCA league directors, and no invitation or existing team is required to participate.

    Competitive League (3rd–6th)

The Competitive League is intended for athletes seeking a more competitive level of play. Games are more competitive, and teams are formed by coaches before the season.

To participate in the Competitive League, athletes must be included on a roster submitted by a Competitive League head coach and complete their registration by the registration deadline.

Parents are responsible for communicating with a Competitive League coach before registering. Registering for the Competitive League does not guarantee placement on a team, and FCA does not assign athletes to Competitive League rosters. If you have not confirmed a spot with a coach before registering, you should not assume your athlete will be placed on a Competitive team.

If you are interested in the Competitive League but are not already connected with a team, you are welcome to register for the Developmental League. If openings become available on a Competitive team, FCA may assist in placing interested athletes as space allows.
